Typefully

Draft, schedule and analyse social posts for X, LinkedIn, Threads and Bluesky.

Typefully is a social publishing tool for writing, scheduling and analysing posts on X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Instagram, with Substack Notes added in 2026. It has a distraction-free thread composer, an AI writing assistant, a public REST API and an official Claude connector launched in September 2026. It is not a generation tool; it is where a filmmaker or creator plans and publishes the text around a film.

Why it stands out

What makes Typefully different

  1. 01

Writing-first: the thread composer and realistic per-platform previews are the core of the product, not an add-on to a scheduling calendar.

  2. 02

Public v2 REST API with OpenAPI spec, plus an official Claude connector (Sep 2026) so AI assistants can draft and queue posts into a human-reviewed workspace.

  3. 03

Draft-level planning: planned drafts wait for confirmation, and publish_at accepts 'next-free-slot' for queue-based scheduling.

  4. 04

Covers X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Instagram and Substack Notes from one editor.

  5. 05

Per-platform controls such as X reply restrictions, X Articles and X content disclosures (paid partnership or made-with-AI labels) built in.

The Feature

About Typefully

Typefully is built for writing and scheduling social copy. The editor previews each post as it will look on the platform, splits long text into threads, and lets you schedule to a specific time or the next free slot in a queue. In 2026 the product grew from a thread scheduler into a multi-platform publisher: Bluesky and Mastodon quote posts, Substack Notes scheduling, LinkedIn reposts and mentions, X Articles, and X reply restrictions were all added. A new team calendar (August 2026) shows every social set in one view and supports planned drafts that wait for confirmation before they go live.

The biggest 2026 change is agent access. A public v2 REST API (Bearer key, OpenAPI spec, drafts, queue, media upload and comment threads) was extended in April and May with queue management and a draft comments API for agents. On September 18, 2026 Typefully was listed in Claude's official connector directory, so Claude can draft from notes, schedule or queue posts across a workspace, and work through comments on drafts. Every draft still lands in Typefully for human review before publishing.

For filmmakers and creators, Typefully is the copy desk for a release: a trailer launch thread, a festival announcement on LinkedIn, a behind-the-scenes series on X, or a newsletter-style Substack Note. It does not generate video, images or audio, so it sits alongside generation tools rather than replacing them.

The Verdict

When to reach for it — and when to skip

Reach for it when…

  • Strongest composer for X threads and long-form posts among these tools
  • Real API and official Claude connector, so a release calendar can be drafted and queued by an assistant
  • Steady changelog cadence through 2026

Skip it when…

  • Video publishing only; no generation, editing or asset library for film content
  • Its AI is a writing assistant, not a planner that produces campaign assets

Best For

✓ Ideal for

  • Announcing a film festival selection or screening on X and LinkedIn from one draft
  • Writing a behind-the-scenes thread series for a short film or YouTube release
  • Scheduling a launch week of trailer, stills and cast posts across platforms
  • Letting Claude draft social copy from a production log, with a human approving it in Typefully

✗ Not built for

  • Generating video, stills or music for posts (use a generation tool and then publish here)
  • Teams that need deep analytics and social listening (a tool like Metricool or Sprout fits better)
Field Notes

Working Tips from Filmmakers Using Typefully

  1. 01 Use plan_at (planned drafts) for release-week posts so nothing goes live before the distributor's embargo is cleared
  2. 02 Upload the 1080p cut to X directly; the 720p limit on non-Premium accounts is the reason a teaser looks soft
  3. 03 Turn on Slack notifications per social set so the publicist sees posts go live
