About Claude
Claude is a text-and-document AI. You chat with it, upload scripts, transcripts, PDFs and spreadsheets, and it writes, edits, analyses and plans. For a film or video workflow that means VO scripts, shot lists, edit notes from transcripts, budget and schedule sheets, pitch decks and grant documents, and the code behind motion graphics and web tools. It does not make pictures or footage. Pair it with an image or video model for the visuals.
What changed in 2026: Anthropic moved the model line to the 5 generation. Fable 5 launched June 9, Fable 5.1 on September 1, Opus 5.5 on September 22, Sonnet 5.5 on September 28 and Haiku 5.5 on October 7. Claude Code gained Projects (September 17), self-hosted environments (August 6) and auto mode as default (August 7). Claude Cowork reached general availability on April 9 across paid plans. Claude Design, which builds prototypes, slides, one-pagers and docs on a canvas and exports PDF, PowerPoint and HTML, is included on every plan, Free included. Connectors now reach a directory of more than 950 MCP servers.
Who it is for: writers, editors and producers who need long documents checked against source material, and developers building internal tools or interactive pages. The Free plan covers Sonnet and Haiku for light use. Pro at $20 a month adds Claude Code and Fable 5.1 through usage credits. Max starts at $100 a month for more usage. The limits reset on rolling five-hour windows with weekly caps on paid plans, so heavy video-script or deck sessions can run into them.
