HubSpot
Free CRM and sales pipeline for tracking leads, clients and production deals
HubSpot is an all-in-one CRM with marketing, sales and service hubs that share one contact database. In 2026 its AI agents moved into Agent Hub and Agent Builder (public beta since July 23), and a hosted MCP server lets AI assistants read and write CRM records.

What makes HubSpot different
- 01
A free CRM with no trial clock: useful on its own for a small team, unlike Salesforce, which only offers a trial.
- 02
Marketing, sales and service hubs share one contact record, so a film inquiry, the proposal email and the invoice follow-up live in one timeline.
- 03
Agent Builder runs agents from CRM events (contact updates, schedules, webhooks) using deal history and call transcripts as context.
- 04
Official remote MCP server with read/write access to CRM objects, so Claude can log calls or update deal stages directly.
- 05
Large app and integration marketplace and a built-in website, landing page and blog builder, which cuts the number of separate tools a small studio needs.
About HubSpot
HubSpot is business software, not a creative tool. For a filmmaker, production company or agency it is the place where leads, client conversations, deal stages, email follow-ups and project inquiries live. The free CRM covers contacts, deals and basic email for a small team; paid Marketing, Sales and Service hubs add sequences, workflows, reporting and seats.
What changed in 2026 is mostly AI and developer plumbing. Agent Hub is a console for AI agents, and Agent Builder is a canvas where you combine workflows, custom agents and triggers (schedules, contact updates, webhooks). Breeze Assistant has a Content Agent (beta) that drafts blog posts from a topic or URL. HubSpot Credits pay for agent runs, with a monthly allotment on paid plans. The remote MCP server at mcp.hubspot.com lets Claude and other MCP clients work against CRM objects over OAuth. HubSpot also announced the end of support for v1-v3 APIs and legacy private apps, with enforcement in September 2027.
It suits a small production company that wants one place for inbound leads, client pipeline and follow-up email. It is overbuilt for a solo editor who only needs a contact list, and the costs climb quickly once you buy more than one hub and extra seats.

- One contact record across marketing, sales and service
- Deep integrations with email, calendar and video call tools
- Official MCP server makes it usable from Claude
- Strong onboarding docs and a large partner ecosystem
Skip it when…

- Plan names, promo prices and free-tier limits change often and conflict between sources
- Overkill for a solo editor or freelancer who needs a contact list
Best For
✓ Ideal for
- A production company tracking inbound client inquiries and proposal stages
- An agency managing producer, director and client contacts across projects
- Sending follow-up email sequences to festival, brand and distributor leads
- Using Claude or another MCP client to log calls and update deal stages
- Keeping a free CRM for a two-person studio before paying for hubs
✗ Not built for
- Creative production, editing or AI video generation
- Solo creators who only need a newsletter list (use kit or a simple email tool)
- Teams that cannot afford Professional-tier pricing once they need workflows or sequences at scale
Working Tips from Filmmakers Using HubSpot
- 01 Start on the free CRM with two seats; upgrade one hub at a time rather than buying Marketing Pro for a small inquiry list.
- 02 Check the seat count before buying: Professional includes only 3 Core Seats on Marketing Hub and 5 on Enterprise.
- 03 Agent runs draw from HubSpot Credits; test an agent on a few contacts before turning it on for a full list, since credits do not roll over.
- 04 Keep the MCP connection read-only at first to avoid unwanted writes to client records.
