Canva is a browser-based design platform for graphics, presentations, social video, and documents. In April 2026 it launched Canva AI 2.0, a conversational agent that builds and edits layered designs from a prompt, currently in research preview. Fastest route from brief to finished branded graphic: templates, brand kit and AI 2.0 are one workflow, so non-designers on a team can produce on-brand assets without an editor.

Veo 3 clips with synced audio inside a design editor. The clip lands in a timeline you can caption and music-bed immediately, which a standalone generator does not give you.

About Canva
Canva started as a template-first design tool and is now a full creative suite. Its core is a layered design editor used for social posts, slides, posters, ads and simple video edits. Canva AI 2.0 (announced at Canva Create on 16 April 2026, research preview) turns a typed, spoken or sketched brief into an editable multi-asset campaign, keeps memory of brand colours and fonts, and lets you change one element without touching the rest of the layout.
For video, the relevant pieces are Create a Video Clip, which generates an 8-second clip with synced audio using Google's Veo 3, and an image-to-video model that Canva says powers AI 2.0. Clips open in the Canva video editor for trimming, captions, music and text. This is useful for title cards, motion graphics, social cutdowns and b-roll placeholders. It is not a replacement for a generative video tool when you need long takes, camera control, or character consistency.
In 2025 Canva merged Affinity's three apps into one free desktop app, and in early 2026 it made Cavalry (procedural motion design) free for all designers. Teams get brand kits, template locking and approval workflows on Business and Enterprise plans. For a film or video team, Canva is most useful for thumbnails, lower thirds, pitch decks, title graphics and social packaging rather than picture editing or finishing.
