About Runway
Runway now sells a whole production stack rather than a single video generator. Gen-4.5 is the company's flagship text- and image-to-video model, priced at 60 credits per 5 seconds. Aleph 2.0 is a video-to-video editing model: edit one frame and the change can carry across the rest of the footage, which makes it useful for swapping backgrounds, adding elements or cleaning up a shot without re-generating it. Studio puts trim, stitch, reorder and export in one timeline, and Agent (launched May 2026, expanded through the summer) takes a plain-language brief and runs the generation steps inside Projects that hold Brand Kits and assets.
What changed in 2026 is mostly breadth. Runway MCP connects generation to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Replit and Grok. Plugins now run inside DaVinci Resolve and as panels in Premiere Pro and After Effects. Runway Ruby, a native color-grading model, converts SDR video to HDR and is available in Tool Mode and Workflows. A self-serve Team Plan with a shared credit pool launched in September 2026. The old Unlimited plan was replaced by a Max plan at $95 per month with 9,500 credits.
It fits a film or video workflow mainly at the front and back ends: previs and shot tests on Gen-4.5, fixes to finished footage with Aleph 2.0, and colour and frame-rate work in the NLE. Credits are the constraint. Gen-4.5 costs about 12 credits per second and Aleph 2.0 about 28 credits per second, so a Standard plan's 625 monthly credits cover roughly 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 and about 22 seconds of Aleph 2.0.

- 01 Block shots with Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode in Agent (480p) and render the final version only after the composition is locked.
- 02 Use Aleph 2.0 on a short cut, not the whole film; at about 28 credits per second the cost climbs quickly.
- 03 Export ProRes from Max (or PNG sequences) when you plan to grade in DaVinci Resolve, rather than grading compressed output.
