About Magnific
Magnific began in 2023 as a generative upscaler that adds detail rather than only enlarging pixels. Its two modes split the job: Creative reinvents texture, skin, foliage and material, and Precision keeps the original structure, which matters for text, logos and UI. Image upscaling runs from 2x to 16x, and video upscaling outputs 1K, 2K or 4K with optional frame-rate boost.
What changed in 2026 is scope. On 28 April 2026 Freepik relaunched its AI platform as Magnific, saying the old split (Freepik as stock, Magnific as the upscaler) no longer matched the product. The platform now bundles hosted image, video and audio models, including Nano Banana 2 and Nano Banana Pro and Kling 2.5 on the pricing page, with Topaz upscalers on the higher tiers. Pricing moved from the old $39/month, 25-upscales plan to a credit system: Premium at €16/month (€12 billed yearly), Premium+ at €36, and Pro Starter at €88, all excluding VAT.
For filmmakers the fit is finishing rather than restoration. Use it to lift concept art, matte paintings, AI-generated stills and low-res key art to delivery size, and to push AI video to 4K. Because processing is cloud-only and Creative mode invents detail, it is a poor choice for archival restoration where the original pixels must stay untouched; there, a local tool such as Topaz Video is the safer pick.
